HIGH FIVE FOR… FEELINGS (a guest mix)

This guest mix (and accompanying words) came via Lauren Rearick from The Grey Estates (everybody’s favourite purple powered music blog) near the end of 2017.

“This year I've had a lot of feelings. I normally have a lot of feelings, mostly anxiety and depression, but this year felt harder. I could blame it on current events and the ceaseless cycle of bad news. I could also probably blame it on trying to figure everything out all the time. I like to know what's happening next, I like to believe that things always get better. But, this year it seems hard to keep hold of that belief and I often can't control anything of what's happening when my days are constantly changing.

This year I found myself alone... a lot.. and much of that is due to the fact that I work from home. There are days when most, if not all of my communication is done through screens and it's been an adjustment to say the least. I don't have the answers for all the questions I have yet to solve and all the anxieties that plague my mind. I can't always make things get better and sometimes it's hard to believe they will. It's in those moments I turn to the words and feelings of someone else.

Music can say everything about a current situation I can't. These are a collection of songs that make me feel; at peace, sadness, hope and a little less alone.

Feelings can be scary but they're also something you have to embrace and just ride it out. Maybe you can ride out whatever ails you with this mix.”
